Union Minister And Sr. BJP Leader Ananth Kumar Passes Away At 59 In Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Union parliamentary affairs minister Ananth Kumar passed away in Bengaluru on Monday at 2 am from complications following pancreatic cancer and infections.

The 59-year-old political leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had not been keeping well for the past few months.

He had been in the intensive care unit and was on ventilator support for the past few days.The 59-year-old BJP leader had arrived in Bengaluru on October 20 after undergoing extensive treatment in London and New York.

Ananth Kumar holds charge of two key ministries – serving as Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers since May 2014 and as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs since July 2016 in the Narendra Modi government.

Since 1996 he has represented Bengaluru South constituency in the Lok Sabha.He is survived by his wife Tejaswini and two daughters, Aishwarya and Vijeta.

Ananth Kumar did his graduation in faculty of Arts (B.A) from K S Arts College, Hubli affiliated to the Karnataka University and later, completed his bachelors in law (L.L.B) from J.S.S. Law College affiliated to the Karnataka University.

Union Home minister Rajnath Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had recently visited Ananth Kumar in the hospital.

Several political leaders took to Twitter to express grief over Ananth Kumar’s demise.The mortal remains of Ananth Kumar will be kept at National College in Bengaluru for last tributes.
