Skill Development Centre Inaugurated in Kupwara

KUPWARA: Enabling the Youth Today for a Stronger Kupwara Tomorrow Vajr div / Hajipir Brigade / Humdard E kupwara 41RR in collabortaion with INITIATIVE FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT (NGO) inaugurated “COL SANTOSH MAHADIK SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE.

“A person is never forgotten, who has given so much to remember” Noble Late Col Santosh Mahadik, SC, SM, Ex CO 41RR, had left no stone unturned in uplifting all sections of population of Kupwara and had envisioned many youth centric programs.

One such project was persued by a NGO namely “Initiative for Peace and Development” who come forth and started a Skill Development Project to train the youth of Kupwara and adjoining areas. The project will be run at newly institutionalised “Col Santosh Mahadik Skill Development Center” in Kupwara, named after the noble personage.
Co-Director, Initiative For Peace and Development, Mr Azad Hussain Peer in his introductory speech, shared his memories with Late Col Mahadik and his vision towards empowering the youth of Kupwara. He expressed his gratification for the people who supported the project in various ways and the Almighty for making this vision become a reality.

He also motivated the students to train themselves to become future trainers so that the good work can spread more rapidly.

The Project has been funded by Hindustaan Petroleum and supported by Confederation of Indian Industries & HUMDARD E KUPWARA 41 RR, Initially 100 male and female candidates will be trained in three domains Basic Computer Courses, Cutting & Tailoring and Hand Embrodiery.

The training will be of 3 months following which interested candidates will be provided job opportunities in government and private sectors.

The persons who were instrumental in making the project possible, Mr Arshad Peerzada, Manager Finance and admin of the NGO and Mr Sheikh Sami, Manager Operations were also present for the event.

Such initiatives targeted towards empowerment of women and  the younger generation will play a major role in eradicating unemployment and keeping the younger generation away from clutches of terrorism in the valley.
