SJVN TARGETS TO GENERATE 9200 MU OF ELECTRICITY AND RS.2175 CRORE TURNOVER DURING FY ‘19

SHIMLA: During the financial year 2018-19 public sector SJVN Limited has targeted to generate 9200 million units of electricity from its four power stations in the country. A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed by the company with the Union Ministry of Power today at New Delhi.

Signing the MoU with Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Secretary, Ministry of Power, Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director of the company informed that SJVN has also targeted to have a Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) target of Rs.900 crore and a turnover target of Rs.2175 crore during the year. The other targets of the MoU relate to improving operational efficiency and project monitoring.

Signing the MoU, Nand Lal Sharma, also informed the Secretary (Power) that during the previous year, against the target of 8950 Million Units SJVN had generated 9280 Million Units of electricity from its four operational power stations.  He further told that the company had already paid an interim dividend of Rs. 785.95 crores to its shareholders.

SJVN Limited, which had implemented and is operating the country’s largest 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Plant, is in the process of implementing four power projects with a capacity of 1610 MW, while its four other projects with a capacity of 2155 MW are under various stages of clearance. SJVN thus envisages to become a 5700 MW plus generating company in coming years.

The MoU signing programme was attended by Ms. Archana Agrawal, Joint Secretary(Hydro) from the Ministry of Power, R.K. Verma, Chairperson (CEA) and  Kanwar Singh, Director (Civil), Sanjay Uppal, CGM (BD&MS) and Ravi Uppal, CGM(Corporate Planning) from SJVN.
