A Russian plane has crashed with at least 65 passengers and six crew members on board.
MOSCOW: All 71 people aboard a Saratov Airlines plane died when the plane crashed southeast of Moscow on Sunday.An emergency services source told Tass news agency there are no survivors.
Witnesses in the village told local media they saw a burning plane falling from the sky.
It is not immediately clear what caused the crash, with weather conditions and pilot error said to be among the possible reasons.
The Russian-made AN-148 was seven-years-old and was bought by the airline one year ago.
The Saratov Airlines flight, an Antonov An-148 jet, was on its way to Orsk in Orenburg Oblast, near the southern Russian border with Kazakhstan.Russian media reports the crews could not get to the site by vehicle and had to go by foot.
Media outlets in Russia are reporting that passengers’ bodies have been found near the small town of Zvyozdny, near Moscow.
A source at Domodedovo, Moscow’s second largest airport, told agencies that the plane disappeared from radars within two minutes of takeoff. Rescue teams are approaching the crash site on foot as they were unable to get there in their vehicles.
