Former CM Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday cautioned his supporters against “fake Samajwadis”
LUCKNOW: The former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav made the remarks while addressing the state convention, which unanimously re-elected Naresh Uttam as the party’s president in Uttar Pradesh for the next five years.
Addressing party workers and leaders on the occasion of the 8th state convocation of Samajwadi Party at Ramabai Ambedkar Ground in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Development is not the core agenda of BJP, I am sure they will bring some new distraction just before the elections”.
Akhilesh Yadav said that the Samajwadi Party is the largest political party and plays a bigger role in Uttar Pradesh’s politics.
The former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav also criticised the Centre for the recent train derailments and sought better rail services for Uttar Pradesh.
The Lucknow Metro as the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yadav said the world knows that work for the ambitious project was initiated by the SP government. Akhilesh, however, clarified that he enjoyed the blessings of his father and SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The 8th state convocation of Samajwadi Party was attended by senior party leaders Ram Gopal Yadav, Azam Khan, Ram Govind Chowdhury and over 15,000 workers from across the state. Mulayam Singh Yadav and Shivpal were conspicuous by their absence.
Ram Gopal Yadav also advised Samajwadi Party workers to use smart phones and set up an IT cell to counter the BJP on social media.
Samajwadi Party sources maintained that not much has changed in the party ever since Akhilesh Yadav took over as national president.
