PM Modi Files Nomination Papers From Varanasi Today

In 2014, Modi won the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, defeating Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal by a massive margin of 3.37 lakh vote. 

VARANASI: PM Modi on Thursday took his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi by a storm with a mega roadshow. He was joined by UP CM Yogi Adityanath and other senior BJP leaders.

PM Modi on Friday submitted his application from Varanasi, the constituency he won in the 2014 general election. Varanasi will vote in the seventh phase of the seven-phase 2019 Lok Sabha election on May 19.

A total of 71 constituencies across 9 states will vote to choose their Members of Parliament (MP) in phase 4 of Lok Sabha Election 2019.The Prime Minister met top BJP leaders and NDA allies before filing his papers.

BJP leaders, including party president Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and senior Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Sushma Swaraj, were also present on the occasion.

Before reaching the Varanasi collectorate to file his nomination, Modi went to a temple to offer prayers. The prime minister, who reached here on Thursday and brought life to a standstill as he held a 7 kilometre roadshow through the town.

The prime minister said he had worked honestly for good governance and the people had made up their minds they want another Modi government.

Minister of External Affairs of India and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj says: “The people of Varanasi are very lucky as they are choosing the prime minister of India, while people of other constituencies are choosing their MPs.”
