KOLKATA: On Saturday 30 March 8:30 p.m. local time, skylines around the world will plunge into darkness  as millions of people celebrate Earth Hour to show their commitment to protecting the only life-supporting planet, till date.

Let us  switch off to remind ourselves we do care and also silently remind other fellow beings that they should show they  care too.

Earth Hour, a symbolic grassroots movement was first initiated in Australia by the World Wildlife Fund For Nature (WWF) to protest human activity driven carbon dioxide emissions, resulting in global warming.

‘Earth Hour’ was famously started as a “lights out “event in Sydney, Australia on March 31, 2007 by switching off non-essential lights from 7.30pm for an hour. Since then it has grown to engage more than 180 countries and territories worldwide.

As Nature  continues to face threat due to human carelessness, Earth Hour 2019 is our moment to unite and create a never-ending movement for the regeneration of Nature.

I am ready to switch off extra lights from 8:30 p.m.to 9:30 p.m tomorrow. Are you?
