Florence Nightingale, the great Foundress of Nursing is the Beacon- Light of the Nursing Community.
Today is a very special day. It is special for two reasons. Firstly it comes a day after Mother’s Day, secondly we commemorate International Nurses Day today.
My Female parent qualifies both. My dear mother is a mother as well as a nurse. My life has been deeply shaped, inspired and motivated by her alone.
From the day I entered this world through her loving womb, I feel safe and secure. It is rightly said that a child feels most secure in its mother’s arms.
Being a nurse mother requires lots of patience and the quality of acceptance to life’s situation, embracing the gentle quality of love, counseling patients at various stages.
Nurses are the lifeline of a hospital as well as the home. Without a nurse, there would’nt be a healing touch. They dress wounds, monitor patient’s condition and provide a boost to the patient’s morale.
In the present context of the COVID Pandemic, nurses are proclaimed to be the Frontline Warriors or Health. Whenever and wherever a calamity arises, nurses are ready to nurse patients without a second thought! One should not treat them badly.
In my point of view, this is the only profession which needs a Qualification not merely on paper, but in spirit- the Qualification of Service!
Florence Nightingale, the great Foundress of Nursing is the Beacon- Light of the Nursing Community. She served people injured in the Crimean war wholeheartedly. She dressed up their wounds and provided words of comfort. Not only does a patient need physical care, but mental gratification throughout his/ her period of trauma.
And when a Nurse is a Nurse Mother too, the quality of Love and Service multiplies manifold to her household, community and her social circle too.
Humanity should be concerned about nurses and root out any bad treatment meted out to this community. We should be greatly indebted to them for putting their lives in danger so that we nurture and protect ours.
The World Health Organization has declared this Year’s Nurses Day to be an Exemplary Year of Great Achievement. On this Day, I salute all the Nurses the World Over and pay my humble gratitude to them in thought, word and deed.
Happy Nurses Day!
