SHOPIAN: Two militants were killed in a brief gunfight at Guind Village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district. The militants were involved in various civilian killings including a Lady SPO Khusboo Jan, Police claimed.
A Police Official while talking to ICN told, two militants who were killed in Shopian shootout were belonged to proscribed outfit JeM were wanted by law for their complicity in a series of terror crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities.
The Officer further added both the killed militants were involved in the abduction and subsequent killings of civilians Firdous Ahmad of Batgund & Nissar Ahmad of Kapran and policeman Balwant Singh of Batgund last year. They were also involved in the killing of lady SPO Khusboo Jan at Viel Shopian earlier this year. Both militants were also involved in killing of a civilian Tanveer Ahmad of Bemnipora at Kachdoora in Shopian and involved in arson and setting ablaze of Panchayat Ghars at Kanjiullar and Ramnagar, officer mentioned.
One among two slain Militant Shahijahan was involved in snatching of weapons and killing of four police personnel at Arhama Shopian near petrol pump last year in 2018. He was also involved in attack on Police Station Shopian in which one cop Saqib Mohi-ud-Din had attained martyrdom and his rifle was snatched. He was involved in the abduction and killing of a young boy Huzaif Ashraf Kuttay resident of Manzgam D.H Pora the statement further mentioned.
Reports of clashes between security forces and radicalized civilian youths after killing of militants were also reported in which 20 people said to be injured.
Two militants, including top JeM commander, were killed in a brief shoot at Guind village of Shopian early morning after Joint team of 34 Army, CRPF and J&K Police launched searches in Guind village of Shopian orchards. As the Joint team intensified searches, miitants fired upon them triggering a brief Gunfight in which two militants were eliminated.
It was Big success for security forces to eliminate JeM Commander along with his associate who were involved in Civilian Killings.
To curb rumour mongering Authorities snapped Internet services including 4G in the district as a precautionary measure.
