DELHI: As round one of the seven-phased Lok Sabha election began in 91 constituencies across 18 states and two Union territories, reports of unrest and irregularities cast shadows over the world’s biggest poll process.The votes for the election, being held over seven phases, will be counted on May 23.
The states and union territories that went to the polls were: Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar islands and Lakshadweep.
The highest turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha Election was recorded in the state of Nagaland (87 percent), Lakshadweep (86 percent), Tripura (84 percent), West Bengal (81 percent) and Jammu (72 percent).
In Uttar Pradesh, the turnout was just (60 percent).In Uttarakhand it was (58 percent),In Bihar, it was (58 percent). In Rajasthan it was (63 percent),In Odisha it was (68 percent) and in Madhya Pradesh it was (61 percent).
Other remote areas such as Dadra & Nagar Haveli (84 percent), Sikkim (83 percent), Manipur (79 percent) Daman and Diu (78 percent) and Andaman & Nicobar Islands (70 percent).
