IDCF Launched Across State To Control Diarrhoea Deaths

ITANAGAR: Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) programme was launched across the state on May 28 lastdr under the theme ‘Zero child death due to diarrhoea’ to make the state free from diarrhoea death.

The programme consist a set of activities to be implemented in an intensified manner for prevention and control of deaths due to dehydration from diarrhoea across all States & UTs. These activities mainly include- intensification of advocacy & awareness generation activities for diarrhoea management, strengthening service provision for diarrhoea case management, establishment of ORS-Zinc corners, prepositioning of ORS by ASHA in households with under-five children and awareness generation activities for hygiene and sanitation.

At Aalo, 12 centres have been located to cover target of around 7500 children under IDCF. The programme was launched from General Hospital Aalo by West Siang deputy commissioner, Swetika Sachan after administering ORS to children this morning.

The DC stressed on making an elaborate arrangement to make the programme a success.

Dr. Nyage Geyi. DMO Aalo spelt out a detail plan to intensify the programme in different parts of the district.

DFWO, Dr. Tomar Kamki, medical superintendent, Dr. Linya Lollen and others doctors and para medical staffs and nurses were present on the occasion.

At Yupia, deputy commissioner Papum Pare Dr. Joram Beda while launching the IDCF programme stressed on the use of ORS and Zinc tablets and urged all the parents and staffs present to keep at least one packet of ORS at their home and regularly feed children during loose stool. He also stressed on homemade ORS solution and advice all the medical staffs, especially ASHAs to generate awareness and encourage on homemade ORS preparation.

Dr. Subu Tasso Kampu, DMO Papum Pare District highlighted on IDCF and its implantation in the district and also mentioned the district targets 40000 children (0-5 years), mother and care taker to be covered during the IDCF-2018.

DRCHO Dr. Jomnya Ado, DANO, Dr. Tania Raju, MO Incharge Dr. Tupi Tato, DPM, MOs of RBSK, staffs and parents with their children were present on the day.

At Tezu, “Zero child death due to diarrhoea in the last two years”, said DMO S Chai

Pul, during the formal launch of IDCF at Zonal General Hospital here.

Dr. Pul, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the programme and importance on intensification of efforts towards ‘zero’ childhood deaths due to diarrhoea. She highlighted the district’s achievement of zero child death due to diarrhoea in the last two years.

EAC, S Sengupta, appealed all the line departments to coordinate with the parent department in every possible way for smooth functioning and success of IDCF programme.

DRCHO, Dr. S Nayil, explained in detail the IDCF programme and briefed the audience about the importance of early breast feeding within first hour of delivery and colostrum and its benefits.

Medical superintendent Dr. W A Wailong was also present.

At Khonsa, while launching IDCF, DC Tirap PN Thungon urged the parents and children to live a hygienic life by using boil water for drinking, hand wash with soap before and after meal to avoid water borne diseases like Diarrhoea and skin disease etc.

Demonstration of hand washing was shown by DRCHO Dr. Angu, Medical Earlier DC and DMO Dr. N Lowang distributed ORS packets to 143 children and their parents.

The launching programme was attended by Khonsa CDPO, medical officers, parents, 100s of school children, nursing staff, ASHAs and Anganwadi workers.

At Ziro, ADC Ziro cum i/c deputy commissioner, Lower Subansiri District Nending Chatung, in presence of DMO, DRCHO,CDPOs, BEOs, DPO-IDSP, DVBDCPO cum i/c MS, GTGH Ziro, DPMSUs, ASHAs and other staffs of GTGH Ziro launching the programme called for coordinated efforts from the Health, Education and ICDS department to make the forth night successful.

DRCHO Dr. D Likar briefed about IDCF and directed the MO i/cs to utilize the available fund from the existing RKS fund which shall be re-equipped later when the fund is released from the state to the district.

DMO Dr. T Kanno, DMO while speaking on the occasion said that no diarrhoea death case should prevail in the society and in order to make it materialize, healthy and hygiene practices need to be promoted.

N Monya, SN, GTGH Ziro and the ASHAs showed the right way to wash hands. ORS sachets were distributed to the under five years children who were present during the programme.
