The theme of this year’s summit is ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’
HYDERABAD: Ivanka Trump, daughter and adviser to US President Donald Trump, has arrived in Hyderabad for the annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit co-hosted by India and the US.
The three-day summit, from November 28-30, is being held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) and Hyderabad International Trade Expositions (Hitex).
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that India appreciated the efforts of the US to promote entrepreneurship globally. She said she had no doubts that on PM Modi’s and President Trump’s leadership, entrepreneurship would reach new heights.
“This will be the first GES in which women are the majority, over 52.5 per cent, of the participants,” Niti Aayog said in a press statement. More than 10 countries will be represented by an all-female delegation, including from Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and Israel.
Mentioning about the recent Moody’s rating upgrade and the upgrade in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business ranking, where India went up by over 42 ranks, Modi said our immediate focus is on further simplifying processes and take up the ranking to 50 in EoDB.
Calling upon Indian entrepreneurs who had gathered at the GES, Modi said each of you have significant things to contribute to the country and with your innovations and new projects let us make India a different country to live in by the year 2022.
Indian women continue to lead in different walks of life. Our space programmes, including the Mars Orbiter Mission, have had immense contribution from women scientists. Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams, both of Indian origin, have been part of US space missions said PM Modi.
Ivanka Trump, a woman entrepreneur herself, said she was excited to see so many women entrepreneurs under one roof. “I am proud to see that for the first time a majority of 1500 women entrepreneurs are participating in such an event.”
