(In the past article, we knew about the importance of goal setting for students. Today, we will know about some concepts relating to preparation for examinations.)
Understand the importance of studying
NOIDA: Many students in my workshops say that they think that schooling is not necessary for success in life. Though it is a fact that lots of people have succeeded across the globe even without education, but it does not mean that education is not necessary. You must have observed that big industrialists send their children for higher education. Why it is so? They can join their parental business at any time. Still, their parents understand that if the child will be educated, he will not only be in a better position to handle the day to day nuances of the business, he will also be in a better position to handle the highly educated & capable staff.
Take full benefit of classroom studies
Listen to your teachers carefully in the classroom. These days, there is a fashion amongst the students to complain that their teachers know nothing and they are wasting the time of students. Here, I suggest you to look at it from a different perspective. You cannot question the knowledge of the teacher, as he knows more about the subject than you. At the most, you can say that you could not grasp the teachings as you don’t find him a good communicator. You should remember that you have already invested your time in the class. Now you have only two options available; either to pay attention to the teacher or not. Obviously paying attention is a better choice. When you will listen, questions will crop up in your mind. Is not it more prudent to get your doubts clarified in the class? You can seek clarifications from your teacher or you may later search yourself at home. Once you start changing your mindset, you will start learning how to take benefit of the classroom.
Understand, no fruitful purpose is going to be served, if you don’t listen to the teacher in the class, as you have already invested your precious time in the classroom.
Tap the benefit of school library
Vast reservoir of knowledge available at internet is of immense use for students, but it is no substitute of books. Your school library provides you selected books on almost all the subjects and topics, which are essential for you. Read the biographies of successful people from the library, which you are not going to otherwise read after buying it from the market.
Understand the importance of 1 mark
These days competition is cut throat. You have to clear entrance examinations everywhere. If you complete your intermediate examination and want admission in graduation, cut off is so high for good schools that it even touches 100% marks in the first cut off list. If you appear in the entrance examination of any undergraduate course like CLAT, JEE, CAT, MAT etc., the difference of 0.25 marks can decide, whether you are pass or fail and which institute or stream you will get.
Importance of good grades in the examinations
Understand the importance of getting good marks in your examinations. It not only increases your self-esteem, it is also necessary for getting admission in good colleges. In the entrance examinations, better marks can secure you admission in better Institute.
Even after completing your course from any Institute, the students who are in creamy layer, as far as grades are concerned, get the package, which is twice or thrice than the package offered to the students obtaining lower marks.
Importance of knowing the higher weightage subjects in the entrance examinations
Almost all entrance examinations give you composite type of papers testing your academic & analytical abilities in different areas. You have to clearly understand the weightage of each area so that you can focus accordingly on the areas of higher weightage. For example, for entrance examination for engineering, English is important. For entrance examination for law through CLAT, legal knowledge section carries maximum weightage. For admission in NIFT, creativity is to be improved.
