(In the past article, we knew about the mistakes people make while setting & achieving goals. From today, for the next some articles, I will focus specially on students & parents.)
As per Robert M. Hutchins, “Education is not to reform students or amuse them or to make them expert technicians. It is to unsettle their minds, widen their horizons, inflame their intellects, teach them to think straight, if possible.”
I love talking to students as working on the mindset of future generation is my passion and my life-mission. You are the future of this country and I believe that you should be most benefitted from my experiences in life. When I see a whole lot of students, full of energy & enthusiasm, filled with hope & expectations, my heart is also filled with hope that the future of my beloved country is in bright & safe hands. I am filled with hope because I observe that unlike earlier generations, more & more students are the dreamers & visionaries. In past generation also, students used to think big but only a few of them used to take necessary actions to pursue their dreams, but nowadays, students not only think big, a large proportion of these visionaries are also ready to take disciplined actions towards their success.
Here I would add that they can fly towards their life purpose, if they get wings of GOPTA.
The power of GOPTA for students
You can compare yourself with a seed of success having potential to see your success tree grow beyond limits. Here is an important point to ponder upon. If you do not germinate the seed, can it progress into a tree? The obvious answer is ‘NO’. A seed needs planting into the right soil to germinate and then requires necessary environment, like proper water and sunlight etc., then only the seed may grow into a tree over a period of time. As I already said, these days, students already have the seeds of success in the forms of their dreams & vision. They just need the right environment of GOPTA i.e. Goals Oriented Positive Thinking and Action, so that their dreams may grow into the tree of success.
If you are ‘goals oriented’, you will always be aware, what is the most appropriate use of the time at any moment. If you possess ‘positive thinking’, you will look for the opportunities everywhere and will not allow anybody else to steal your dreams. If you take persistent goals oriented ‘actions’ and keep on working upon yourself, there will be nobody who can stop you. You will become unstoppable.
On the other hand, if you don’t tap power of GOPTA, you may face three major challenges:-
Your thinking will not be goals oriented
You will not know, in which direction you are going. Often you must have seen that students of class 10 are confused whether they should choose science, commerce or arts stream in class 11 onwards. Students of class 12 remain confused about their career options; they don’t know, which career they should pursue and why. They apply for lots of entrance examinations in different fields, thinking that wherever they will get admission, they will join. When they don’t know their destination, how they will know the direction.
As Zig Ziglar puts it, “You cannot make it as a wandering generality; you should become a meaningful specific.”
You will suffer from ‘BUT’ syndrome
You will find all kinds of excuses for not doing something or not pursuing your dreams and will be prone to succumb to the opinions of others continuously discouraging you.
You will not take disciplined actions
You will leave your success to come to you at its own pace and will always believe that you will succeed only if you are lucky. If you don’t succeed, you will start blaming luck. You will not take the disciplined actions, essential for achieving success.
I wish to put a humble reminder here that you can’t afford to miss any of the three limbs of GOPTA because all three work in tandem and provide strength to each other. If even one limb is missing, other two will lose strength over a period of time. Now you have to decide whether you want to tap power of GOPTA or not.
If you look at your life, you will find that the life you have got is better than most. It’s okay if some people look very successful but you have all the potential to be successful in life.
(In some of the next articles, I will specially keep on focusing on students and parents, as to how they can take benefit from GOPTA. I believe that you are enjoying the journey towards the future of your dreams with me. If yes, please stay tuned. Happy G.O.P.T.A.)
