KOLKATA: In the last article, we saw how to tap the power of visualisation using power of sub-conscious mind and apply backward goal setting. Today we will see how to use the power of positive affirmations.
Positive affirmations
Make an image in your mind that you are succeeding. Remember, your sub-conscious mind works on the picture, you provide it as an input. Don’t doubt your success. If you think about failure, your sub-conscious mind will make this picture of failure true.
There is a difference between analysing possible obstacles and excessively fearing possible obstacles. Think about the possible obstacles as part of planning process only, so as to plan the detours.
Repeatedly remind yourself that ‘I am good’, ‘I am good’, ‘I am good’; or ‘I deserve the best’, ‘I deserve the best’. When you repeat these small phrases, your sub-conscious mind starts believing it and it shows you results in two manners. One is that you start believing that you are good at whatever you do physically. Second is that you start believing that your attitude & core values are also good and you deserve the best. Sometimes for a change, you may also have the affirmation ‘I love myself’, ‘I love myself’, ‘I love myself’. Believe me, nothing is better for your sub-conscious mind than feeding it with positive affirmations. Gradually, the negative emotions will be flushed out of your sub-conscious mind and your sub-conscious mind will be re-programmed with positivity.
As the theme of my book is moving from negatives to positives, I would suggest that whenever you find that you are having any negative affirmation, try to find out any positive affirmation to counter that negative affirmation. Breathe in deeply and breathe out. While doing so, imagine that with breathing in, you are inhaling the positive affirmations and with breathing out, you are exhaling and flushing out the deep-rooted negative emotions and it is going out of your sub-conscious mind. I guarantee that if you try this method; there is no negative emotion, which can’t be flushed out of your sub-conscious mind within a month. If you just start getting aware of your negative emotions, second step of overcoming these will be automatically taken care of by your sub-conscious mind.
You can devise a list of positive affirmations as per your needs and write it down on the small sized pocket cards. Repeat these positive affirmations at least thrice a day. You can make these affirmations as screensaver of your computers. The point is that whole day, you should fill your sub-conscious mind with these positive affirmations.
Be selective
Whatever input you provide to your sub-conscious mind, it will be accepted without questioning. I believe you would not like to make your sub-conscious mind a dustbin, filling it with garbage. Be selective in giving input to your sub-conscious mind. You have to choose between what to read and what not to read. You have to choose between what to see on the TV and what not to see. You have to choose between whom to make friend and whom to not. To learn more about it, please see the YouTube Video at http://bit.ly/Be-Selective .
Expect positive results
Hope is very important. You have to expect and believe that everything positive will happen to you. I would say that expect positive results and it will happen to you sooner or later, depending upon your disciplined actions. As I had shared with you earlier also, when Jim Carrey, renowned Hollywood actor, was struggling in his early days, he used to think that everybody wants to work with him and there are various offers of good films, which are on the way to him. World famous motivational speaker Les Brown says that everyday you have to recondition your mind by saying, “it’s possible, it’s possible, it’s possible.”
(In the next article, we will see how you can tap the power of positive thinking; and after that, we will proceed to the much-awaited goals setting process. I believe that you are enjoying the journey towards the future of your dreams with me. If yes, please stay tuned every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday. Happy G.O.P.T.A.)
