Do We Really Need To Celebrate Women’s Day?

LUCKNOW: Yesterday there was news that a 3 years old girl was raped in front of her five year old brother and today we are celebrating International Women’s Day. Isn’t it seems like we are ridiculing womanhood.

We live in a country where we can keep fast for woman deity Durga for nine days but when it comes to show respect towards woman, people become stereotype. How can we please Goddess Durga in nine days when we are not respecting her resemblance in rest of the days?

A woman in our country is still judged on her clothes, her way of talking and on her lifestyle. Why can’t she take her own decisions? Why she always need a male to look after her and if she is a divorcee, single or a widow then she has to follow so many restrictions of the society otherwise she gets so many titles which I need not to write.

We say India is developing nation but condition of women in India is worse than the Vedic period. People who put so many restrictions on women and give them names I would like to remind them that in Ancient times’ women were the most respected in the society. She was free to choose her husband, widows were allowed to remarry and education was provided to girls, no rapes, no domestic violence and no eve teasing.

If modernization and development is giving us rapes, molestations, domestic violence and restrictions then I pray to god please bring back the Vedic era we don’t need this modernization.
