More than 200 million children worldwide are working as child labourers and a staggering 115 million at least, are subject to its worst forms.
LUCKNOW: Child labour is an illegal employment of children in any work that deprives their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school, and that is mentally, physically, socially and morally dangerous and harmful.
Childhood is the birth right of everyone which he/she must live under the love and care of their parents, however this illegal act of child labour forces a child to live life like elder. It is a forceful act either by the parents, bad events or owners.
Child labour keeps a child away from all the benefits of the childhood, a happiest and memorable period of the life of everyone. This illegal activity of the child labour is increasing day by day even after lots of the rules and regulations against this by the govt. to completely prohibit the act of child labour.
Over the past two decades India has put in place a range of laws and programmes to address this problem. It is still a crime to humanity and curse for our society which exists in almost every corner of our country.
In many developing countries child labour is very common because of the existence of high level of poverty and poor schooling opportunities for the children.
According to the census 2011, 1 in every 11 children in India is working. More than 200 million children worldwide are working as child labourers and a staggering 115 million at least, are subject to its worst forms.
According to the analysis of census data by CRY (Child rights and you reveals), about 1.4 million child labourers in India in the age group of 7-14yrs can’t write their names. This means one in three child labourers in the said age group are illiterate. This is the grim reality of children who work for more than six months in a year.
Child labour in India somehow has become a social norm that we accept and tolerate in our society. This exploitative and abusive practice will continue unless society adopts a zero tolerance attitude towards it.
It has become a biggest social issue which needs to be solved. It is not the responsibility of the govt. only; it should be solved and taken care by all the parents, owners and other social organizations.
It is the issue of everyone which should be solved personally as it can be happened with the child of any person. Its time to open our eyes to the issue that is ruining the childhood of millions of children in India.
