SHIMLA: The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party today met at its New Delhi office under the Presidentship of Amit Shah to finalise the list of contestants for the forthcoming assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh .
The meeting was also attended by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister and other members of the Central Election Committee of the BJP.
The Election Committee has decided all the 68 candidates for the ensuing General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh.
Among the prominent leaders of BJP, former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal will contest from Sujanpur instead of his earlier stronghold of Hamirpur.
Erstwhile King of Kullu, Maheshwar Singh will contest from Kullu. In another development Anil Sharma, son of Pandit Sukh Ram Sharma, the former Union Minister of Communications during the congress government, has joined BJP and is set to contest from Mandi.
BJP has fielded Ratan Pal Singh against Virbhadra Singh from Arki while Suresh Bhardwaj will contest from Shimla.
The ruling congress is yet to announce it’s final list.
