AAAS: Aware-Alert-Action-Survival ; Healthy Citizens Are The Greatest Asset Any Country Can Have

LUCKNOW: One day hands -on workshop was held on 8th september 2018 at 9:00 am ,in the auditorium of Lucknow Cancer Institute.

An initiative ”AAAS(Aware-Alert-Action-Survival) – A comprehensive skill programme was jointly organized by Department of Trauma Surgery,King George’s Medical University,Lucknow Cancer Institute,GVK-EMRI & Association of Research Professionals.The main objective of “AAAS” is to train medico and non-medico students so that they can play supporting role in the survival of trauma victims.

Emergency,Trauma and Disaster such as accident ,flood,bomb explosions and arson cause a sense of vulnerability.Natural disasters such as hurricanes,floods,tornadoes and fires all cause specific damage and chaos.A trained civilians can reduce mortality and morbidity rate of trauma victims.

The training of “AAAS” Programme includes teaching Life-saving technique such as the BLS(BASIC LIFE SUPPORT),the basics of CPR(Cardio- Pulmonary Resuscitation),Life saving technique, Disaster risk reduction,Post disaster rehabilitation, Biomedical Waste management,Health care management,Bleeding control and bandage,AED(Automated external Defibrillator),choking management ,Airway and breathing issues management during Disaster,Trauma prevention & management.

Prof Dr. Sandeep Tiwari, H.O.D. of Deptt of trauma & surgery KGMU said precious lives could be saved if timely medical assistance is provided to such victims in the golden hour,he added.

In Inaugral ceremony of the workshop presided by the speech of Dr. Nirmala Pant(Director LCI),Welcome note by Prof. Dr. Sandeep Tiwari with saraswati vandana sang by Kgmu students & lucknow university’s students & Lamp lighting done by dignitaries.

The Chief Guest of the Event Dr. Narendra Agarwal,Chief Medical Officer,Lucknow with Guest of Honour Retd. Major General Rajeev Pant & Dr. Daud,GVK-EMRI was also present.

The Chief Guest of the Event Dr. Narendra Agarwal,Chief Medical Officer,Lucknow said the purpose of conducting training programme can be served if a few lives are saved,he added.

Prof Tiwari delivered lecture on Disaster risk reduction with training & learning protocol by leading experts of KGMU  like Dr. Hemlata,Deptt of Anesthesiology ,Dr. Prem Raj,Deptt of Anesthesiology,Dr. Kirti Srivastava,Deptt of Radiotherapy,Dr. Monika Kohli, Deptt of Anesthesiology ,& Dr. Saumya Singh,Deptt of General Surgery.

Dr. Rajeev Misra, President of Association of Research professionals managed and given platform to MHA( master of hospital Administration) students of KGMU and Lucknow University to learn about important topics by expertise lecture and hands on training.The workshop was ended with the post assessment questionnaire & feedback from the participants.

The full focus of the workshop was on different challenges in the field of Life saving Techniques,Disaster Preparedness and Management,Health waste management & Trauma Prevention & management along with the current updates.More than 80 medicos and non-medicos participated in the workshop.Lastly ,this program was an excellent opportunity to learn about different technique & management in the emergency situation.
