Once you complete all the above exercise in respect of all the goals in each walk of your life, summarise your results in the chart below. This chart is only indicative just to help you summarise your goals. You can devise your own chart adding or deleting some fields as per your choice.

MY S.M.A.R.T.E.R. GOAL SUMMARY

Life Aspect
Date
My S.M.A.R.T.E.R. Goal
My vision/ aspirations for this life aspect are:
What is the specific target/ desire to be fulfilled?
Reasons/ benefits, why you want to achieve this goal.
How the goal will be measured?
Is the goal adjustable, if you make progress at fast or slow speed?
Expected obstacles
Skills required
Relationships required
In what time, the goal is expected to be achieved?
Action steps
Periodic review

Rearrange your goals according to target date of achievements

Now in the next column of your list, put a target date for each of your goal and thereafter arrange your goals in long-term, medium-term and short-term goals.

-Long-Term Goals are the ultimate goals of life. These goals represent big picture of your life; for example, choosing a career, getting job in the suitable choice of career, planning marriage & children, planning post retirement life, planning spiritual progress, planning material achievements, which might be monetary or otherwise, etc. Identifying lifetime goals will give you the overall perspective for all the other aspects of your goal setting process.

-Medium-terms goals are check posts during the journey to the long-term goals. These provide the reviewing points at regular intervals, so that necessary adjustments may be made to the long-term goals.

-Short-term goals are stepping stones in the wake of achieving long-term goals, just like milestones in our journey from one place to another. These are the confidence builders, as when you achieve any short-term goal, you are filled with joy and confidence.

-Sort out your list according to the goals which have to be achieved in the next 25 years (if you can visualise thus far), 10 years, 5 years and 1 year or sooner.

Plan the activities to achieve immediate goals by reducing the planning to six monthly levels, then to quarterly levels, then into monthly levels and finally into weekly levels and then identify, what activities will be required to be done on daily basis to achieve each of the goals.

After you identify your long-term, medium-term and short-term goals, summarise the results in the following table:-

GOALS SUMMARY (At a glance)

Life Aspect Family Health Career Finance Things Personal fulfilment / Enjoyment Contribution
Time
10 Years
5 Years
1 Year
6 Months
1 Month

[You can also add rows for 25 years, 3 years and 3 months, if you need/ desire. Similarly, you can also add columns for any other life aspect, you want to monitor.]

The benefit of above summary chart is that it presents a holistic view of your vision and aspirations, when you look at it horizontally as well as vertically. It is the summary of all your wishes, converted to S.M.A.R.T.E.R. goals, which you can read daily. It will reprogram your sub-conscious mind and will continuously feed your sub-conscious mind about your future vision in the form of long-term goals & medium-term goals; and will also tell you the immediate short-term goals, so that you can plan & prioritise your activities over shorter period to provide sufficient fuel for your success rocket to launch. Remember, it is essential to provide the fuel of disciplined daily actions to your success rocket.
