MUMBAI: Maharashtra is witnessing farmers protest once again as thousands of farmers and tribals have been taking part in a two-day march from Thane to Mumbai.

The farmers are also likely to take up the issue of the implementation of Forests Rights Act.The farmers are also scheduled to meet Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis later in the evening.

Farmers across Maharashtra gathered in Thane yesterday where they began their march, led by Swaraj Abhiyan activist Yogendra Yadav and conservationist Rajendra Singh.

The farmers are demanding implementation of the Swaminathan Committee report, which suggested that farmers must have assured access and control over resources such as land and water.

Taking the cities and the entire Nation on seize has become a common practice of the misguided, disgruntled and politically motivated masses. Be it seeking reservations in employment, or seeking higher value for agricultural produce, waiver of loans or any other reason.Herds of villagers are prompted to block highways, stop train movements disturb public life as an arm twisting move for the ruling governments.
Besides disturbing the public life such strikes leave many a bruises on the lives of affected people, on civic and public properties,  and the system at large. Losses mount to crores of rupees in the move to settle political scores.
The agitation of farmers has been there since times immemorial which have given birth to farmers’ leaders playing into the hands of politicians and later many taking to politics themselves.
Such leaders are crowd pullers and the agitations are merely show of strength and arm twisting tactic.
One wonders if such agitations are the only means to showcase their might and strength?
The basic reason behind such moves and agitations are merely political interest. We often find that as the assembly or parliament elections near such moves gather more grounds. In the ongoing elections also we find that the parties have rolled out doles for the masses in their manifestos.
The loanees who had been paying back sincerely obviously feel cheated, while such moves also give rise to generating masses of defaulters.
FARMER LOANS NOT TO BE PAID BACK. IN 10 DAYS OF COMING TO POWER THESE LOANS WILL BE WAIVED. PARTIES CLAIM.
