Demonetisation Was The Biggest Scam Since Independence: Rahul Gandhi

Elections for the 230 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh will be held on November 28, and the results announced on December 11.

SAGAR: Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi on Friday claimed that demonetisationwas the “biggest scam in the history of independent India”.

Addressing a campaign rally for the November 28 Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, Gandhi said Modi does not talk about being a chowkidar of the country and of tackling corruption.

After the note ban, Modi made honest and hardworking citizens to stand in queues outside banks, Congress President said.

On November 8, 2016, PM Modi had announced a ban on then in use Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 denomination bank notes with immediate effect.

Rahul promised that the Congress, if it came to power in Madhya Pradesh, would cancel farmers’ loans within10 days. If this did not happen, it would change the chief minister, he said.

Rahul said that if the loans of industrialists worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore could be waived off, the same could be done for farmers. However, he said Modi would instead waive off the remains Rs 12 lakh crore loans of industrialists.

Rahul also claimed that Modi cancelled the deal made by the erstwhile UPA government for the purchase of 126 Rafale aircraft from France without informing the Indian Air Force or former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
