ALMORA: Nobody wants to leave their home specially when the weather here is this good and the air you breathe is pollution free but still Migration is a big problem faced by people of Uttarakhand.
This new state was formed with this objective of reducing migration by increasing educational level , job opportunities and overall development of the region.
But even after 15+ years of its formulation we are suffering from same problem , people are still migrating to plains specially in search of better living.
We tried finding out the reasons of migration and found the main reasons as follow:
Firstly , There are no better institutions specially after schools so people tend to go outside for their higher education and later settle their for their jobs
Secondly , sick medical facilities see after people get 50+ their are higher chances of medical problems and Uttarakhand lack in good hospitals and good medical facilities , me being in my early 20+ o would myself won’t like staying at a place where my parents do not get a proper Health checkup.
Thirdly , scarcity of jobs people generally tend to go outside for better living as it’s not skill that people here lack in its availability jobs that lacks .
A irony is rather than becoming a hub for sustainable development and economic prosperity, the state is today a ring for political fights and home to corrupt and greedy politicians
Some suggestions to stop migration :
Better college should be opened , better public health system , one should promote tourism here , promoting tourism will not only generate revenue but also job opportunities.
Road connectivity to remote villages will improve access to markets for farm and non-farm produces. It will also boost village tourism.It will improve access to education centers and healthcare services.
