SHIMLA: To mark the culmination of Vigilance Awareness Week which started on 30th October, 2017 across the organization, SJVN organized a one day seminar on “Role of CPSU Employees in Achieving Corruption Free India” at its corporate office in Shimla with participation of students from various local schools and colleges.
A.S. Bindra, Director(Finance), SJVN was the chief guest of the function while Kanwar Singh, Director (Civil), S.S. Negi, Chief Vigilance Officer, senior officials from SJVN Limited and students & teachers from various schools and colleges were also present.
Welcoming the participants, S.S. Negi, Chief Vigilance Officer, emphasized the role of students and youth in eradication of corruption from public life and urged them to come forward for the noble cause.
Padamjeet Singh a renowned speaker from Transparency International, India in his talk told at length about role of PSU Employees in eradication of corruption. He further stated that the corruption is enemy of progress of nation and plays havoc with the economy of any nation.
A.S. Bindra, Director(Finance) in his address observed that the seeds of honesty and integrity are first sown in the family and thus exhorted the women to play greater role in planting these virtues in the youngsters from an early age. He urged the youngsters specially the students to lead the way by pursuing their goals without succumbing to the lure of unfair money and comforts of life.
Earlier during the week, SJVN organized declamation competitions in various schools and colleges on the topic “My Vision – Corruption Free India”. The first and second prize winners from these events were invited for Grand Finale for two categories viz school and college, which was also held today.
Students from various schools and colleges put forward their views on the said topic. The views offered by them were widely applauded and appreciate by the audience. Jury to judge the participants consisted of Prakash Lohumi, renowned journalist of Shimla and & Praveen Chandla Ex Asst. Director, CPRI.
Cash prize and certificates were given to the winning participants by Directors of SJVN. The first prizes of the competitions for both the categories were Rs.10,000/- while second and third prizes were of Rs.8,000/- and Rs.6,000/- respectively. In addition to these consolation prizes were also given away.
