LUCKNOW: The game of volleyball evolved from purely a recreational sport, turned into an extremely exerting competitive event in a span of eight decades. The evolution brought about consequential changes in its demands on the participants. Through Volleyball can be played even by the older people without much exertion, it requires high levels of motor abilities if it is to be played as a competitive sport, these abilities should be developed optimally if one is to reach his peak performance. Scientific planning, purposeful training and periodical evaluation are the pre-requisites for this development. The procedures planned and followed for the psychological, social and physiological development of the player constitute the preparation for the sport.
Preparation for any competitive sports involves a form of athletic training that ensures optimal attainment of motor abilities and psychological characteristics so essential to make the participants for arduous task. The most important objectives of preparation for competitive Volleyball include the attainment of robust health and physical qualities required for skills and endurance achievement of perfection in techniques and tactics of the game development of qualities requirement to change actions and maneuvers according to conditions and situations which include the characteristics of opponents and external conditions; acquisition of theoretical knowledge required to understand and analyses different movements; and development of intellectual, social and emotional traits required to cope with varying environmental conditions.
Different teams have been used in sports sciences to indicate the different aspects of preparation. It has been customary to use the term physical preparation for procedures practice for the development of health and physical fitness. The development of abilities required to change the intended movement and action will according to conditions and situations is termed tactical preparation. Procedures followed to impart theoretical knowledge of the game constitute theoretical preparation.

Physical preparation for the game of Volleyball comprises the procedures involved the procedures involved in the development of health and physical fitness of the sportspersons.
TRAINING LOAD FOR VOLLEY BALLERS
The increased intensity of training is developed by exposure to physical training in the form of exercise preplanned according to individual capacity and performance objectives. The psychological and physiological demands made on the organism through physical exercise in any training session constitute the training load.
This load consist of two types: first type is the external load and second type is the internal load. The external load constitutes intensity, duration and number of physical stimuli, whereas the reactions and responses of the organism to these stimuli constitute the internal load. In determining the load for any training session, intensity, duration, rest, frequency of training should be considered. According to the predetermined purpose, training load can be well controlled by varying any of these characteristics.
