Trump has engaged in an escalating war of words with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un amid rising tensions between the two countries.
North Korea has fired 22 missiles, including two across Japan, during 15 tests since February this year, drawing a sharp reaction from the US and its allies.
“It’s time to take Trump seriously as he keeps hinting, over and over, that he wants to go to war with North Korea,” Murphy tweeted.
US President Donald Trump has said that he has a different approach on North Korea’s recent missile and nuclear tests, asserting that the problem has reached a point where “something has to be done”.
Kim doesn’t want to appear weak and seem as if he is caving to American pressure, and officials in North Korea repeatedly cited Trump’s threats to justify their military mobilization and their reluctance to engage in dialogue or conciliation.
Trump has genuinely increased the economic pressure on North Korea through United Nations sanctions, and the pinch may increase. The US has conducted a joint military exercise with South Korea, flying two strategic bombers over the Korean peninsula.
