Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Rejects To Anti-Trump Tweet

In a Facebook post on Wednesday Zuckerberg said both Trump and liberals were upset about ideas and content on Facebook during the campaign.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg fired back at US President Donald Trump on Wednesday after he accused the leading social network of being “always anti-Trump.”

Zuckerberg rejected the notion, countering that Facebook is working to ensure “free and fair elections” with an online platform that does not favor one side over another.

Facebook last week said that Russia-linked ads on the social network aimed at inflaming tensions around last year’s US presidential election will be given to Congress. Facebook is facing increased scrutiny over the election.

The company said last week it would give Congress information about 3,000 ads that ran in the U.S. it sold to Russian-linked accounts.

Later on Wednesday, The Hill reported that the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee invited Facebook, along with Twitter and Google, to testify at a Nov. 1 hearing looking into how foreign entities may have used social media platforms to influence the election.

Zuckerberg admitted misinformation on Facebook may have had some impact on the election, but insisted that Facebook’s role in the election was a net positive.

“We will do our part to defend against nation states attempting to spread misinformation and subvert elections,” Zuckerberg said.

Facebook is part of investigations both houses of Congress and special counsel Robert Mueller are conducting into Russian influence in the 2016 election.
