Congress Releases Manifesto For 2019 Lok Sabha Polls

NEW DELHI: The Congress Tuesday released its manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.The official manifesto of the party, with the tagline “Hum Nibhayenge” focuses significantly on jobs and eliminating agrarian distress.

The manifesto document was released by party president Rahul Gandhi with top party leaders, including former prime minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and former Finance minister P Chidambaram in attendance at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi.

Congress National President Rahul Gandhi said the manifesto has been vetted by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and that it “reflects the aspirations of the people”.

The NYAY scheme, which assures Rs. 72,000 per year for India’s poorest is also one of the five main themes of the manifesto. “And this will help remonetize what PM Modi had demonetized,” said Rahul Gandhi.

According to the party’s manifesto, it is a direct transfer benefit scheme. The scheme is likely to cost Rs 3.6 lakh crore per annum.According to the manifesto, the Congress party plans to fill up 22 lakh vacancies by March 2020.

Over 10 lakh of those jobs would be provided in Gram Panchayats.Congress also promises to review and replace the current GST laws with their redefined GST 2.0 regime.

For farmers, the party promises to put them on the path from “Karz Maafi”, to “Karz Mukti”. The manifesto has promised a separate “Kisan Budget” for the farmers every year.

Congress national president Rahul Gandhi said if farmers are unable to repay the loans, it will be treated as a civil offence and not a criminal offence.The party has promised to double the allocation for education to 6 per cent of GDP by 2023-24.

Congress will also reserve 33 percent of all posts/vacancies in the Central Government for women.Congress promised an action agenda that will place India at the forefront of the battle against global warming and environmental protection.
