33 Dead In Maharashtra Bus Accident, NDRF Rescues 30 Bodies From The Spot

MUMBAI: 33 people were feared killed and one injured after a private bus plunged into a 500 feet gorge in the mountainous section of Poladpur in Raigad district of Maharashtra on Saturday.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has completed the operation to retrieve bodies from the accident site near Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra’s Raigad district.

All the passengers were staff members of the Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth (BSKKV) in Dapoli.It fell into a 500-feet deep gorge at Ambenali Ghat near Poladpur town when the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a turn.

This time, the staffers along with the PhD students, planned to visit the Rahuri-based Mahatma Phule Agriculture college for the purpose of wheat research.
